About Us

Our Vision: To demonstrate a high quality of sportsmanship in the world of roller derby and local community through high performance, leadership, and dedication.

Natural State Roller Derby is a proud member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. NSRD is an open gender league, where all are welcome.

NSRD was formed by two local roller derby teams, Northwest Arkansas Roller Derby (est. 2006) and Benton County Roller Derby (est. 2010), joining forces and becoming one league. The merger of leagues kicked off late 2019, and in 2020, Natural State Roller Derby was announced publicly. Because this was amidst the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the new merger and league build paused until late 2021. NSRD resumed practice and game play in the 2022 season.

‍ Members of Natural State Roller Derby are dedicated to providing a positive atmosphere that improves our members’ individual athleticism, self-discipline, and character through the hard-hitting sport of roller derby. NSRD partners with charitable organizations and is dedicated to providing community outreach through events, activities, and charitable sponsorship.

Starlight Skatium in Fayetteville, AR is our home rink and practice space.

Natural State Roller Derby acknowledges that our league practices and competes on the traditional homelands of Kadohadacho (Caddo), Wahzhazhe (Osage), Okáxpa (Quapaw), and numerous other Native groups. We understand that this land holds immense significance to centuries of Indigenous caretakers, and we recognize and respect the vibrant contemporary cultures of the First Nations of all the Americas.

We also recognize that a portion of the Trail of Tears runs through our local area, and that the Cherokee, Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek), Chickasaw, and Seminole Nations passed through what is now Arkansas during this forced removal. We encourage you to learn more by visiting the Museum of Native American History and by researching the land on which we all reside.
